Experience True Peace & Healing

This Lent through Confession

This week is our Lenten Confessions, a great way to experience God’s peace & healing. It is also one of the most powerful ways to prepare our hearts for the joyful celebration of Easter. Please check the bulletin for details. Outside priests too will be available.

Lent is a time for self-examination & repentance, where we acknowledge our shortcomings & turn our hearts back to God. Confession offers us a wonderful opportunity to experience God’s boundless mercy & forgiveness, & to be freed from the weight of sin. It’s not just a ritual; it’s a moment of grace where we encounter Christ in a very personal & intimate way. Through the priest, who stands in the person of Christ, we hear the words of absolution that bring us peace & reconciliation with God & the Church.

Many may wonder about the need to confess to a priest. In this sacrament, Christ himself entrusted the apostles with the authority to forgive sins (John 20:23). The priest, acting in the

name of Christ, provides a witness to God’s mercy & helps us experience the healing power of the Holy Spirit. It is through this holy encounter that we are truly restored, not only to God but to our community, for sin isolates us from both.

It is never too late to return to God’s loving embrace. Whether it’s been days, weeks, or years since your last confession, God’s mercy is waiting for you as we reflected last Sunday about the return of the prodigal son to the loving embrace of his waiting father. I encourage each one of you to make this sacrament a priority & make this Lent a time of true peace & healing & celebrate the joy of Easter with hearts made new.

Blessings of Peace and Joy Always!

Fr. Joe
